The students of 2nde 16 European Section stepped back in time to the reign of King Henry VIII of England (1491 - 1547). As part of the programme for the European Section, 2nde students study historical figures from Anglo-Saxon culture from 800 BC until the 18th Century
King Henry VIII was well known for having six wives. The fate of his wives is chanted in the rhyme: Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived. Indeed two of his wives (Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard) were executed in the Tower of London.
Students of 2nde 16 imagined different scenarios from the reign of King Henry VIII and wrote letters to display on illustrated posters in the CDI. How did Anne Boleyn feel as she awaited her execution in the Tower of London? How did King Henry VIII address the Pope when pleading for a divorce from Catherine of Aragon? Using their creativity, the students put pen to paper and wrote their historical letters.
